On January 28, 2005, the Associate Dean for Biomedical Sciences and Graduate Program sponsored an Open House for prospective students interested in graduate education at the School of Medicine of the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus. The students had the opportunity to meet faculty, admissions staff, and learn more about the academic programs. As part of the event, they visited laboratory facilities within each department. At the BioMed Innovation Laboratory the students had the opportunity to learn about our research interests including the use of Green Fluorescent Protein as a marker for gene expression in human T cells and the development of a new transgenic animal model in diabetes mellitus. We hope that this activity will encourage them in pursuing their career objectives.
