COMMUNITY OUTREACH BREP JOINS EFFORTS WITH THE PEDIATRIC DIABETES CLINIC OF THE MEDICAL SCIENCES CAMPUS

Ms. Odalis García presents the comic "Diabetes Danger" to patients at the Pediatric Diabetes Clinic at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus

At the request of Dr. Lilliam González-Pijem, Director, Pedicatric Diabetes Clinic, BREP Staff shared with pediatric patients at the Pediatric Diabetes Clinic at the Medical Sciences Campus and their relatives the comic book "Diabetes Danger". The comic book served as an educational tool for explaining the disease and teaching how to control blood sugar levels and minimize the complications associated with the diabetic condition. Approximately 25 patients and relatives participate in the clinic weekly. The BREP Program is proud to be a part of this effort to educate the public regarding a disease that affects so many persons in Puerto Rico.
