The Petra Corretjer de O'Neill High School in Manatí celebrated the inauguration of its BioMed Research Club on December 10, 2004. The activity was organized under the leadership of science teachers: Ms. Carmen Fernández Repollet, Ms. Evelyn Rodríguez Maldonado, and Ms. Alma Sánchez Rivera. Dr. Abe Schwartz, Co-Principal Investigator of the Biomedical Research Education Program (BREP) at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus attended the activity.
Board of Directors of the BREP Club
The program included the official presentation of the Board of Directors, the initiation of new members, and an original play. The latter was an initiative prepared by the students utilizing the characters of the BioMed Battle Team and the plot of the first BioMed Battle Team comic book. The play drew lot of attention and interest from the audience. The following students were elected to the Board of Directors:

- Shaira Arroyo Molina - Treasurer
- Jennifer Pérez Robles - Reporter

In addition, José Alberto Marte Sánchez was elected Honorary Member and Dr. Emma Fernández-Repollet and Dr. Abe Schwartz, scientific consultants. During the activity, the following sixteen students were sworn in as active members of the club.
